Light Bearers Organisation (LBO) is a non- governmental organisation established since 2000 to sensitize, educate and create awareness on issues that affect women, youths and children in Nigeria.

About Us

Light Bearers Organisation (LBO) is a non- governmental organisation established since 2000 to sensitize, educate and create awareness on issues that affect women, youths and children in Nigeria.

The organisation’s areas of core competence include women empowerment, HIV/AIDS issues, human rights, poverty reduction, conflict resolution and promotion of reproductive health in women and Peer
Education.

Light Bearers Organization is registered with the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT/NO12731), the Cross River State Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Social Welfare, Youth Empowerment and the Department for Civil Society Organization /Non Governmental Oorganization Coordination.

Light Bearers Organization is in partnership with Cross River State Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA), Civil Society for HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (CISHAN), Cross River State Coalition of NGOs, Cross River State Child Protection Network (CRS-CPN), and other donor agencies to implement projects that have a direct bearing on vulnerable groups including PLHIV, youths, pregnant women, traditional birth attendants and has successfully advocated for the religious community to contribute to the reduction of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.

Vision

A world where rural women, children and other vulnerable groups are empowered to enjoy equal rights, have access to health care services, good education, as well as economic growth and socio-cultural harmony.

Mission Statement

To give hope to women, children, youth and other vulnerable groups including people living with HIV/AIDS through strategic community based HIV/AIDS education, poverty reduction and human rights initiatives.

• Production of Information, Education and Communication Materials
• Sensitization workshops
• Media programs
• Advocacy to chiefs, opinion leaders and individuals, government, etc.
• Involvement of beneficiaries in project identification, designing,
implementation and evaluation.

WHERE WE WORK

The Light Bearers Organization works in the South-South Geo-Political Zone of Nigeria, and has the capacity to work in any part of Africa. We have coordinators who coordinate activities in the zone. In Cross River State, Light Bearers Organization has made enormous impacts in various local governments including but not limited to Boki, Etung, Ikom and Akpabuyo Local Government Areas.
